Job Description

**PRIMARY FUNCTION** The Sous Chef plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation in the kitchen, ensuring efficient service and supporting the Head Chef in various operational aspects. **REPORTS TO** Head Chef **HOURS** As required **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** * Uphold superior food quality and presentation standards across all hotel food outlets. * Ensure efficient cooking times during service. * Assist the Head Chef in hiring, training, and disciplining kitchen personnel. * Train kitchen staff in preparation techniques, station cleanliness, health and safety procedures, inventory management, and time management skills. * Collaborate in menu planning and development. * Assist in inventory management, paperwork, ordering, and maintaining kitchen cost controls. * Oversee adherence to Health & Safety regulations, ensuring cleanliness, product rotation, and staff training in food safety. * Be present during peak service times and in the Chefs absence. * Assist in preparation and planning for event tastings and customer requests. * Manage food preparation for staff cafeteria in the Chefs absence. * Generate new revenue ideas and improvements within the kitchen. * Maintain professional communication in the kitchen and with other departments. * Foster a motivated, positive team environment in the kitchen. **EXPERIENCE** * 2-4 years of supervisory/practical kitchen experience. * Culinary education or equivalent experience is beneficial. * In-depth knowledge of food safety and handling procedures. * Effective time management and organizational skills. * Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. * Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. * Ability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. * Physical capability for tasks involving standing, bending, and lifting. * Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. *Please note that only applicants selected for further consideration will be contacted.* *Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts (CRMR) is committed to building a workplace where everyone can succeed and belong.
