We are seeking a highly motivated, personable, and exceptionally organized Intermediate Wildlife Biologist to join our multidisciplinary technical team in either our Calgary or Edmonton, AB offices. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting environmental regulatory compliance across diverse sectors by leading project planning, data collection and analysis, and technical reporting. Your Responsibilities Conduct a variety of wildlife surveys and assessments, and providing technical support related to wildlife mitigation and monitoring Prepare technical reports and relevant sections of environmental assessments in Alberta (and elsewhere in Canada) Work in a collaborative team environment and under deadlines in wilderness and outdoor settings, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Lead and participate in data entry, analysis and management, and report preparation Coach and mentor junior staff Your Capabilities and Credentials Strong understanding of provincial and federal wildlife regulations and guidelines Demonstrated experience conducting wildlife sweeps and wildlife field surveys in Alberta Strong bird identification skills (sight and sound) Previous experience supporting renewable projects (e.g., bat and bird migration, Post Construction Monitoring Programs) is an asset Scoping and developing budgets for small and large projects related to wildlife surveys and assessments Able to work in a dynamic environment under deadlines Demonstrated time-management skills and ability to deliver high-quality work products in a schedule-driven environment Proven technical, communication, writing and organization skills Excellent communication, organization and writing skills Proficient in MS Office applications Able to lift 50lbs and endure long days of physically and mentally. challenging field work while maintaining a positive, solutions-focused attitude Excellent navigational skills and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in the field Good driving record and valid Class 5 drivers license required. Education and Experience Diploma or degree (Degree preferred) in wildlife biology or related field. Professionally accredited (P.Biol., R.P.Bio). Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience including field work. Office work may include a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. The option of working remotely may also be feasible.Field work may include remote work (away from home), typically 12-hour days (including evenings, weekends, and holidays), long drives under a variety of conditions, shifts up to 14 days at a time or longer, and exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
