This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation within the department, which handle everything from high-volume bulk shipments to single custom orders, each with unique specifications and strict deadlines. Working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, the successful candidate will assist in overseeing daily operations, coordinate the packing and fulfillment of custom orders, and help lead a team through rapidly shifting priorities. A strong understanding of courier systems (especially FedEx), confidence with technology, and a sharp attention to detail are essential. This position requires a proactive mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to pivot quickly while maintaining accuracy and quality. The Shipping Lead Hand will act as the right-hand support to the Shipping/Packaging Manager and must be comfortable leading a team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in logistics or fulfillment who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to take on a key role in a growing operation. **Hours of Work:** Day shift, 8:00am 4:00pm **Job Duties (include and are not limited to):** * Assist in overseeing daily operations of the shipping department and packing room, ensuring high efficiency and accuracy under tight timelines * Create FedEx shipping labels as needed, troubleshooting issues and ensuring timely pickups * Lead and coordinate day-to-day shipping activities, ensuring timely and accurate dispatch of orders * Perform quality checks on outbound shipments to ensure packaging integrity, order accuracy, and proper labeling * Train or assist team members with proper packaging and shipping procedures, emphasizing speed and accuracy in a fast-paced environment * Coordinate and assemble custom order kits, including high-volume and one-off specialty items, ensuring all components are packed and labeled correctly * Prioritize and adapt to a rapidly shifting workflow, handling simultaneous deadlines, and changing order specs with composure * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, optimizing workstation layouts for efficiency * Monitor inventory of packing materials and finished components, and proactively report or resolve stock shortages * Assist in quality control, verifying accuracy of orders and presentation before shipping * May serve as acting manager in the absence of the department lead when needed **Qualifications & Requirements** * Previous experience in a warehouse, fulfillment, or shipping environment * Technologically proficient; experience with FedEx label creation platforms * Demonstrated work ethic with a positive, collaborative attitude * Proven leadership skills with experience guiding or supervising a team * Strong problem-solving ability, especially in fast-paced, high-pressure environments * Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively * Excellent time management and communication skills * Physically capable of lifting boxes and standing for extended periods **Benefits:** * Overtime paid at 40 hours worked per week * Company paid extended health care & dental after (3) months * Life insurance * Wellness program * Company events * Casual dress * On-site parking * PPE supplied * Company reimbursement steel toes after three (3) months *We believe a diverse workforce makes a different.
