About The Position Working as part of the Speciation team in the Trace Metals Department, the laboratory analyst is responsible for all aspects of laboratory analysis including production, time management, quality control and turnaround time. Key Responsibilities Responsibility for instrument operation following documented specific methods and/or procedures; Perform instrument/equipment calibration, maintenance and repair as required; Carry out all required work scheduling and planning activities; Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc.; Carry out all required data processing (i.e. calculations, data review, data entry, archival, etc.); Carry out all required record-keeping & documentation; Perform all required data review; Communicate with the Client Services staff as required; Perform all required quality control procedures; Conduct work following all required safety protocols; Deliver accurate results to our clients in a timely manner; Technical decision making for non-routine, complex analyses or matrices; Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and adhere to strict QA/QC requirements; Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality; Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; All AN2 associated duties; Other duties as assigned. About You Organized, highly motivated, detail-oriented and able to work independently as well as within a team; Able to motivate and encourage staff; Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); Excellent time management skills; Good organizational skills; Professional conduct for interactions with team-members and other sections; Familiarity with LIMS workload management and data-entry functions; Familiarity with instrument software. Required Qualifications Completion of B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in Chemistry, or related discipline (required); 2-3 years experience in an analytical laboratory or related field experience (asset); Previous experience with trace Metals analysis (asset). Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 20lbs; Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time throughout the shift; Perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift. Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends Our Benefits Includes An estimated hourly pay of $22.67 CAD at the time of posting.
