Job Description

JMC HR Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a confidential client - an established franchised music school that delivers performance-based music education in a high-energy, student-focused environment for a General Manager in Halifax, NS. This innovative after-school program helps young musicians develop their confidence and creativity through hands-on instruction and real-world performance experiences. Were seeking a passionate and organized General Manager to lead operations, drive enrollment, and foster an engaging experience for students, families, and staff. Key Responsibilities Lead daily operations of the school, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and dynamic environment for students and staff. Oversee enrollment, scheduling, billing, and customer communications to ensure a high-quality experience. Manage and support the Music Director in hiring and coordinating a team of music instructors. Plan and execute student performances and events in collaboration with the instructional team. Track educational and business KPIs to support program and financial performance. Drive local marketing, promotions, and outreach to grow the student base. Foster a collaborative and motivated team culture aligned with the schools mission and values. Monitor budget and labour costs; provide regular performance updates to ownership. Qualifications Post-secondary education in business, arts management, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 3 years experience in an operations, sales, or customer service leadership role. Experience managing staff, budgets, and client relationships in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working weekday evenings as part of an after-school program structure. Valid background check (or willingness to obtain one) required. Skills & Experience Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Proven ability to manage, coach, and motivate a diverse team. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. A customer-first mindset and passion for creating positive experiences for children and families. Familiarity with youth programming, music education, or performing arts is a strong asset. Marketing or community outreach experience is considered an asset.
