We are proud to consider ourselves to be a leading industrial utility service provider within Western Canada, executing projects in British Columbia, Yukon Territory, Alberta, and Manitoba. **Job Description** The General Construction Labourer position is based at our Head Office & Shop in Nanaimo, BC. The position is Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm. A General Construction Labourers first responsibility is to perform duties in a safe and effective manner at all times, when using hand-tools, loading/unloading and delivery of supplies and materials, office and storage cleanup, assisting crews in field, errands to town, and any general duties that involve basic labour. **Responsibilities include:** * Take direction from Site Supervisors to perform various Labourer tasks * Operate hand and power tools of all types * Sorting materials * Load and unload building materials, machinery or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plan or specifications * Assist in any tasks required by Site Superintendents * Clean and prepare construction site to eliminate possible hazards * Fully comply with all safety regulations while on job site **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** * Heavy construction industry experience preferred * Construction industry qualifications and certifications including First Aid, mobile equipment, fall arrest, WHMIS would be an asset * Experienced Forklift Operator * Trades Experience and/or Electrical exposure is considered an asset * Valid Drivers License & reliable transportation (abstract required) * Candidates with experience in the utilities field with focus on high voltage work sites and civil construction are preferred * Good understanding of construction principles and procedures * High level proficiency in operating power tools and using standard construction tools * Able to take direct instruction, perform tasks in a timely manner, be physically fit to move and carry heavy objects * Capable of working with minimal supervision * Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Job Type: Full-time Pay: $20.00-$28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Ability to commute/relocate: * Nanaimo, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred) Application question(s): * When are you available to start work? * What are your wage expectations?
