Job Description

**The Opportunity:** Metro Testing + Engineering is hiring an experienced Health and Safety professional as our H&S Advisor. We are looking for someone with experience in promoting a safety focused culture and able to support multiple branches and divisions across BC and Alberta. The position is based out of our Burnaby Head Office and reports to the CEO. **Who we are:** We have over 30 years of experience providing materials testing and engineering consultation to the construction industry in BC. We have grown to having over 240 employees and 10 offices in Western Canada. As a CCIL Certified materials testing laboratory, we provide third party independent sampling and testing of construction materials for QC/QA purposes. As a consulting firm, we provide consulting services in Materials, Environmental and Geotechnical Engineering. These six principles are proudly displayed on the wall in every branch where our employees have signed their names on it as a commitment to those principles. **What you will get:** * Salary range is $70,000 to $75,000 per year * Benefits package includes dental, extended health care, vision and life insurance * Onsite gym * Casual dress work environment **What you will be doing:** * Overseeing the H&S programs, policies, and reporting systems * Develop and deliver H&S training programs * Ensure all accidents and incidents are properly reported and investigated * Conduct site specific H&S orientations for all new employees before starting work on site * Maintain employee safety and training certifications required for each Branch Office * Maintain and/or aid branches in qualifying for Certification of Recognition (COR) status and/or perform COR audits * Conduct employee engaged safety meetings **Who we are looking for:** * Bachelors degree or Diploma in Occupational H&S or a related field * 5+ years of experience as a H&S Officer * Valid BC Drivers License and vehicle * Solid knowledge of WorkSafe BC and WCB Alberta regulations * BCCSA certified COR Auditor * Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, positive attitude * Experience with MS Office and Learning Management Software * Excellent verbal and written communication skills **More about us** We are a multi-cultural and diverse organization with employees from around the globe; our commitment to building an extraordinary team has no borders.
