Based in Nanaimo, B.C., Makon Projects Ltd. is a locally owned full-service general contracting company providing superior solutions for commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-residential construction projects on Vancouver Island. We are currently looking to hire a Journeyperson Carpenter to join our growing team and contribute to some exciting projects across the island. We are seeking a Journeyperson Carpenter who is based in the Comox area to work on a project located in Comox, BC. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, maintaining, and repairing structures and components made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials. You are expected to be detail-oriented and knowledgeable about different carpentry materials. You must have the ability to work with a team, as well as independently. The Journeyperson Carpenter must be able to work under pressure and meet required deadlines on a wide variety of projects. **Responsibilities & Duties:** * Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements * Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools * Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials * Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems * Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware * Supervise apprentices and other construction workers * Prepare cost estimates for clients as needed * Ensure safety protocols are followed * Collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure seamless project execution * Maintain a clean and organized work environment * Act as a Stand-in First Aid Attendant when required **Qualifications & Education:** * Journeyperson carpenter ticket an asset * First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) * Extensive knowledge of power tools * Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability * Capable of climbing on ladders and carrying at least 50 pounds * Willingness to work overtime as necessary to meet project deadlines * Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently * Demonstrated ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Proactive thinker who actively seeks out opportunities and proposes solutions * Valid Drivers License Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $31.00-$35.00 per hour Benefits: * Dental care * Extended health care * Wellness program Work Location: In person
