Blood Ties Four Directions Centre is looking for an energetic and passionate full-time Project Coordinator - Knowledge Keeper Project Temporary position until March 31, 2025 with the possibility of extension. Looking for someone to start as soon as possible (ideally by July 31st). Responsible for responsible for coordinating a harm reduction initiative that centers the leadership of Elders, people who have lived/living experience of substance use and families and loved ones by supporting them as peer educators, mentors, and harm reduction leaders in their own communities. The Coordinator will: design and deliver train-the-trainer training for community members convene Knowledge Keepers to build community-led programs mentor and support community leaders to build local capacity to reduce substance use related harms and stigma deliver training sessions and mentorship programs across rural Yukon, including co-facilitation with peer educators and Knowledge Keepers focused on harm reduction, overdose response, safer substance use, and stigma support 6 community-based harm reduction educators, who will engage in naloxone training and safer supply distribution in rural Yukon gather and draw from community feedback to revise educational workshops to better meet community needs manage the project budget and monitor expenditures evaluate program activities and complete funding reports deliver front-line support and harm reduction programs, including in the Drop-in Centre, Needle and Pipe program, and Supervised Consumption Site facilitate events and regular gatherings coordinate with Elders to integrate cultural teachings and traditional knowledge into harm reduction education collaborate with the Rural Education Coordinator and Knowledge Keeper to coordinate and facilitate engagement events, trainings, and community conversations attend rural events to support local harm reduction efforts and identify new peer educator candidates The ideal candidate has: Post-secondary training and/or equivalent experience in social sciences, social work, education or another relevant field Experience delivering health education programs Experience developing community or sexual health program (knowledge of HIV, hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections preferred) Knowledge of and ability to deliver harm reduction programs (experience in delivering harm reduction services preferred); Ability to facilitate educational and community engagement workshops (experience preferred); Understanding of cultural safety and Yukon First Nations histories; Thorough understanding of the social determinants of health and their impact on Indigenous communities; and Communication, organizational and planning skills. This position requires some travel to rural communities so a willingness and ability to travel frequently is a requirement. Valid Yukon Drivers License and clear abstract; Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification; RCMP Security Clearance; and Preference for a personal Vehicle for use for rural community travel (mileage costs will be reimbursed). Preference given to applicants with lived or living experience of substance use and applicants who identify as First Nations, Metis or Inuit/Inuk.
