Job Description

## Description The **Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology** in the **Cumming School of Medicine** invites applications for a **Laboratory and Zebrafish Facility Technician**. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Principal Investigator. ## Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): - Maintain zebrafish housing unit and associated equipment, including pumps, filters, tanks and water system - Manage updates to animal protocol and be present for regular meetings with veterinary staff - Manage quarantine facility and importation of zebrafish - Perform primary daily care for zebrafish - Perform breeding and other husbandry tasks - Train students and new staff in Zebrafish husbandry, equipment maintenance and quarantine procedures - Genotyping of mouse and zebrafish - Ordering, shipping and receiving for research laboratories - Molecular biology experiments (DNA and Antibody staining) - Reconciliation of expenses - Professional interactions with company representatives for quotations and discounts, and repair coordination ## Qualifications / Requirements: - Bachelors degree in related subject (Biological or Health Sciences) - 2 years experience in a research environment - Completed animal training (i.e. IAUTP modules) - Experience with zebrafish is an asset - Knowledge of genetics and developmental biology is an asset - Detail-oriented record keeping - Demonstrated strong communication skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Excellent organization skills - Ability to problem solve in complex situations - Knowledge of research ethics and animal care committees is desirable - Experience with ordering systems and laboratory maintenance ## Application Deadline: July 21, 2025 _We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
