Job Description: QSP is looking for highly skilled Field Technicians for full-time work. The ideal candidate will be multifaceted, able, and willing to perform various field and office related duties. Such tasks and duties could include but are not limited to topographical land surveys, stakeouts, As-Built surveys, profiles, pole line surveys, leak surveys, meter reading, locating, QC (Quality Control), file preparation and other related tasks. QSP prefers candidates with previous knowledge and experience, however, we will provide all necessary training and mentoring to successful candidates. The successful candidate will also be expected to carry out or meet the following conditions: Comfortable with working outside in all weather and environmental conditions. Have a valid 'G' class Driver's License and clean three (3) year Driver's Abstract as this position includes a company vehicle for business purposes only (Corporate gas card included). A clean Driver's Abstract and Criminal Background Check. Adhere to all safety related programs/procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Accept and complete all survey assignments/tasks, as deemed reasonable Act in a professional, courteous manner at all times, while exercising common sense. Adhere to all QSP's policies, guides, and safety related programs/procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Maintain accurate records and conditions (safety and cleanliness) of company vehicles.(i.e., checking/logging tire pressure, checking fluids (oil, coolant, windshield washer) Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per company guides. Ensuring all equipment required for the work crew is in proper working order and loaded safely and securely into the work vehicles prior to the work for the day. Ability to work longer days, in remote areas with little to no direct supervision. Work overtime, nights and weekends as required. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work away from home involving overnight stays as required. Skills and Experience: Experience operating GPS Receivers, Robotic Total Station and data collectors is considered an asset. Experience operating RD, Vivax and locating experience considered an asset. Experience in leak detection survey and corrosion assessments would be considered an asset. Strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work under pressure. Self-motivated and outstanding attention to detail. Knowledge and Education: Minimum Post Secondary education or equivalent. Experience in a related field with Survey/GPS, GIS, Engineering Technology or Technical training is considered an asset. Working at heights, WHMIS, First-Aid & CPR are all considered to be an asset. Nice to Haves: Industry experience with locating/utility mapping/asset collection (Gas, Electric, and Telecommunications) would be considered an asset. Computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) experience using 2D and/or 3D applications such as Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk AutoCAD would be considered an asset Experience drafting As Built and construction drawings for utilities would be considered an asset.
