About the Role: The Purchaser plays a critical role in ensuring that the right materials, parts, and components are sourced, ordered, and delivered on time, in the most cost-effective way possible. Working closely with operations, suppliers, and internal teams, you will manage day-to-day procurement activities, support production schedules, and uphold Hevvy/Toyos high standards for quality, cost, and delivery. This position offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of suppliers, including those producing custom castings, machined components, and other specialized OEM parts for our manufacturing operations in Canada, United States, Australia and Latin America. Key Responsibilities: Procurement & Vendor Management Prepare and issue purchase orders and order confirmations in Syteline ERP. Identify supplier quality issues and take corrective actions when standards are not met. Monitor new supplier performance for on-time delivery, quality, and pricing. Maintain and foster strong vendor relationships to ensure long-term supply reliability. Obtain quotes for materials, components, and miscellaneous production needs. Participate in cost-reduction initiatives and supply chain optimization projects in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager. Work with international suppliers, coordinating freight, customs, and import/export documentation as required. Order Management & Expediting Maintain promised delivery schedules and expedite orders as required. Track open purchase orders, follow up with vendors, and resolve delivery delays. Coordinate shipping requirements and logistics with suppliers across multiple countries. Problem Resolution & Quality Support Address and resolve discrepancies with incorrectly supplied components. Work with Accounts Payable to correct invoice issues. Ensure all procurement activity is compliant with ISO 9001:2015 and OSSE processes and documentation standards. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with Sales, Production, and Warehouse teams to identify and resolve material shortages or delays. Set up and maintain supplier records in Syteline ERP. Support the Purchasing Manager in additional procurement projects and process improvement initiatives. Be willing to occasionally visit suppliers or manufacturing sites for relationship building, quality checks, or project support. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: 5+ years experience working as a purchaser or buyer in a manufacturing company 3+ years experience working with an ERP system Experience with MS office programs Basic knowledge and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Strong understanding of vendor negotiations, order expediting, and procurement processes. Interest in expanding technical knowledge within mechanical manufacturing. Assets: Education or certification in Supply Chain Management, CPIM, or related purchasing courses. Experience sourcing custom castings, patterns, or machined components. Familiarity with ISO 9001 procurement requirements. What will help you succeed here?
