Job Title As a key player in our organization, the Materials Procurement Specialist plays a vital role in securing high-quality materials and components at competitive prices. With a strong focus on collaboration and process improvement, this individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day procurement activities, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining excellent relationships with vendors. Key Responsibilities: Procurement & Vendor Management: The ideal candidate will be skilled in preparing and issuing purchase orders, monitoring supplier performance, and identifying areas for cost reduction. They will also be responsible for fostering strong vendor relationships to ensure long-term supply reliability. Order Management & Expediting: This role requires a high level of attention to detail, as the individual will be responsible for tracking open purchase orders, resolving delivery delays, and coordinating shipping requirements with suppliers. Problem Resolution & Quality Support: The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, as they will be required to address discrepancies with incorrectly supplied components, work with accounts payable to correct invoice issues, and ensure all procurement activity is compliant with relevant standards. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: As a collaborative team player, this individual will work closely with production, warehouse, and sales teams to identify and resolve material shortages or delays. They will also be responsible for setting up and maintaining supplier records and supporting the purchasing manager in additional procurement projects. Requirements: 5+ years experience working in a procurement or purchasing role within a manufacturing company 3+ years experience working with an ERP system Strong understanding of vendor negotiations, order expediting, and procurement processes Interest in expanding technical knowledge within mechanical manufacturing Preferred Qualifications: Education or certification in Supply Chain Management, CPIM, or related purchasing courses Experience sourcing custom castings, patterns, or machined components Familiarity with ISO 9001 procurement requirements
