Job Description

The Brewer is responsible for the production of beer, recipe development, working with other members of the team to ensure all beer that leaves the facility is of the highest quality and that the brewery is kept clean, functional, and up to Fahrs standards at all times.The Brewer is responsible for the production of beer, recipe development, working with other members of the team to ensure all beer that leaves the facility is of the highest quality and that the brewery is kept clean, functional, and up to Fahrs standards at all times. Success Factors: Consistently great tasting beer Efficient brewing process Clean and fully functional brewing facility Accurate and up to date record keeping Responsibilities Uphold our best brewing practices with the goal of making great, consistent product efficiently. Brew beer according to brew schedule. Filtration, transfer to maturation tanks Load and accurately measure grain for milling Follow Cleaning & Maintenance Schedules and consult Lead Brewer about cleaning needs and perform all required cleanings to the appropriate standard. Monitor quality and temperature of fermenting beers on a daily basis per the Lead Brewer. Monitor quality, flavor, and carbonation of serving beers in the Tap Room/Tasting Room, Packaging, and throughout brewing process Assist in inventory procedures for all raw materials, chemicals, beer, cooperage, small parts, packaging, supplies etc. and report deficiencies to Lead Brewer. Maintaining all required paperwork and records including but not limited to brew logs, inventory sheets, packaging records, recipe sheets and other documents as per the Lead Brewer. Participate in beer tasting panels and on occasion, sampling events or other social engagements which may include events, festivals and promotions. Follow all Occupational Health and Safety policies, safe food handling and alcohol service regulations at all times. Qualifications Brewing school graduate (1-3 years experience). Strong communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional manner. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Good understanding of quality assurance and quality control with related problem-solving skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule on occasion including days, nights, and weekends. Forklift certified would be an asset.
