Cyber Security Specialist Location: Abbotsford, BC (On-site, Full-Time) Compensation: $110,000 - $120,000 + benefits About The Company Our client is an innovative technology company at the forefront of smart solutions. The Role The Cyber Security Specialist will play a key role in shaping, implementing, and maintaining the companys cyber security strategy. This position blends hands-on system administration with leadership in cyber security best practices, compliance, and infrastructure improvements. Reporting directly to the Chief Architect, this is a highly visible role supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives tied to winning larger projects. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and enforce cyber security policies, procedures, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans. Ensure compliance with cyber security insurance requirements and industry best practices. Design, document, and maintain secure network infrastructure for corporate and hosted environments. Support product development teams with security expertise during new product launches and implementations. Administer and maintain servers, firewalls, and hosted services (Windows, Linux, VMWare, Hyper-V). Troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve incidents in both corporate and hosted platforms. Partner with external cyber security consultants to strengthen internal capabilities. Stay current with emerging cyber threats, tools, and technologies, bringing forward proactive recommendations. Provide input for RFP responses, ensuring security standards and practices are clearly communicated. Qualifications Must-Haves 7+ years of combined experience in cyber security and system administration. Strong background in IT infrastructure with proven cyber security leadership responsibilities. Expertise in networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP), firewalls, content filters, LDAP, and Active Directory. Hands-on experience with Windows Servers (2016-2022), Debian/RHEL Linux, VMWare ESXi, and Hyper-V. Familiarity with next-generation firewalls, Wi-Fi routers/bridges, revision control tools (Bitbucket, Subversion), and issue tracking tools (Jira). Strong troubleshooting, fault identification, and incident resolution skills. Valid passport and ability to travel within Canada and to the US.
