Structural Engineer Senior Level Hydropower Focus (Hybrid) page is loadedStructural Engineer Senior Level Hydropower Focus (Hybrid)Apply remote type Hybrid locations Calgary, AB Saskatoon, SK time type Full time posted on Posted 7 Days Ago job requisition id R-101715The person in this position will work on multidisciplinary project teams providing structural engineering and related technical expertise primarily for dam structures, hydropower facilities, and flood control structures, such as spillways, decant systems, overflow weirs, culverts, pump/lift stations, and other miscellaneous hydraulic structures. Primary responsibilities will include design and analysis, preparation of plans and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, site inspections, dam safety evaluations, risk analyses, minor construction observation, and project management. The work may require short-term, out-of-town assignments. As markets fluctuate, opportunities may also include working on renewable projects such as wind turbine foundation design, mining, and industrial processing facility projects.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or civil engineering with a structural emphasis (including structural analysis and steel and concrete design)10 years of related work experienceProfessional Engineer (P. Eng) certification and a PE certification or the ability to obtain within one yearWork experience with AutoCAD or Revit and structural engineering analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, or MathCADStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clientsStrong technical and problem-solving skillsAttention to detail, accuracy, and completenessInterest in leading and mentoring early-career engineersWillingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needsPossession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordLegal authorization to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship from Barr Ltd., now or in the futureKnowledge of Canadian Dam Association (CDA) dam safety guidelines and associated technical bulletinsAbility to travel to and work in the U.S.Preferred Qualifications:15+ years of related work experienceMaster's degree in civil or structural engineeringExperience in the consulting industryExperience performing dam safety reviews, audits, and inspections as well as structural stability analyses for hydraulic structuresFamiliarity with hydrotechnical, mechanical, and electrical aspects of hydropower operationsFamiliarity with hydraulic design of dam appurtenant structuresA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Calgary or Saskatoon offices.NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided.
