Learn more about why we were selected here .The Mental Health and Wellness team has grown exponentially and are involved in major projects and initiatives such as, Social Determinants of Health, Treatment Centre Renewals, Land-Based Healing, Healing Centers, Lodges and Modalities and Youth Harm Reduction Toolkits, to name a few. The Provincial Mental Health Clinical Consultant improves access to First Nations Health Benefit counselling services for First Nations people in the FNHA Mental Health and Wellness team and in collaboration with key departments of FNHA, regions and FNHA health system partners.Title: Provincial Mental Health Clinical ConsultantSalary: $88,948 - $104,644 - $120,341 per year (pay range explained below)Contract: Temporary- Term until May 14, 2026Hours: 37.5 hours, 8:30am-4:30pm (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)Location: Anywhere in BC (Hybrid minimum 50% in the offices)About The RoleThe Provincial Mental Health Clinical Consultant improves access to First Nations Health Benefit counselling services for First Nations people in the FNHA Mental Health and Wellness team and in collaboration with key departments of FNHA, regions and FNHA health system partners. Mental health services, including consultation, intake, assessment, collaborative care planning, education, navigation, and connection to other resources, will be done through a decolonizing lensed approach, being aware of clients intersectionality and healing journey to design treatment that would be tailored to meet clients specific needs. This position forms part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team that practices from a First Nations worldview that recognizes and respects the values, beliefs and customs of individuals, families and communities as well as adhering to best practices current to the field. The Mental Health Clinical Consultant will adhere to the chosen governing bodies that they are affiliated to, including guidelines and rules. The position provides team collaboration and trauma-based care by creating a culturally safe environment in order to promote, maintain and/or restore client health.About YouTo be successful in this role you will have Education And Occupational RequirementsA masters degree in psychology, Social Work (Clinical Counselling), or related health professional qualifications with a specialization in mental health.Advanced training in threat/risk assessment and/or complex trauma, as well as training in brief intervention approaches (such as cognitive behavioral therapy or motivational interviewing skills)Occupational CertificationCurrent practicing registration with the applicable professional governing body in B.C. plus, designation as either a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), a Certified Clinical Counsellor (CCC), a Registered Social Worker (RSW), or Psychologist Designation.Current valid Class 5 B.C. drivers license and willingness to submit a drivers abstractExperienceFive (5) to seven (7) years of experience working with complex social systems or an equivalent combination of experience and educationThree (3) years' recent direct experience in a clinical mental health and addictions setting working with children and youth and/or adults.Three (3) years' recent related experience conducting mental health, addictions, threat/risk and trauma assessments, intervention and post-venation treatment services to individuals with mental health and addictions issues.Minimum three (3) years' related experience working with First Nations people and communities, providing mental health services which integrate holistic First Nations approaches.Knowledge and AbilityKnowledge of various therapeutic and counselling modalities and specific brief intervention approachesSound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, addiction issues, culturally safe and trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented care, and severe and persistent mental illness.Experience working from a trauma informed, culturally sensitive perspectiveKnowledge of assessment and screening tools and modalities in determining suicide and violence risk and threatPlease refer to Job Specification section of the Job Description for more details.Working at FNHAAs a member of the team, you will have access to a wide range of employee benefits, including:Municipal Pension plan with an employer contribution of 9.31% (after 6 months)3 weeks vacation, which increases with service to 4 weeks, plus 5 personal days, 1 volunteer day, and 14 public holidays including National Indigenous Peoples Day, National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, Easter Monday and Boxing DayAccess to group health benefits and a Health Care Spending Account through Canada Life on day 1 of employmentAnd more!The First Nations Health Authority is committed to respecting diversity within our workforce; preference will be given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Mtis.Leading with culture, all FNHA employees complete Sanyas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training.
