As we plan for board renewal and a new strategic plan, we are looking for future board leaders who can grow into committee chair or Board Chair. The ideal director brings a collaborative leadership style, a strong commitment to community and a passion for supporting and empowering people in need through effective housing and related services.Attributes we are seeking Understanding of the principles of good governance, the importance of remaining at a strategic oversight level (without intervening in operational activities) Availability to dedicate approximately 10-20 volunteer hours per quarter toattend board meetings, support subcommittee work and oversee a capable management team. Responsive, available and reliable: punctual, able to plan and commit to meeting dates; committed to providing timely and thoughtful response to emails, to pitching in on board or committee work between meetings as needed. Knowledge of the long-term care sector including familiarity with BC Housing, Fraser Health, municipal government and other partners in the sector Professional experience in organizational leadership, potentially with qualifications as a CPA, lawyer, MBA/general executive or HR professional (CPHR). Warm-hearted, team-oriented, adaptable and inclusive personality Able to explain complex matters in layman's terms with clarity and patience Exceptional communicator, able to relate to people at all levels and diversity of backgrounds An ICD.D designation is an assetAbout Foyer MaillardThe Society was formed when a French Canadian Maillardville couple made a substantial land bequest in the 1960s. Their wish was to build an affordable home for seniors. The wish became a reality, with the support and donations of many community residents, CMHC and B.C. Housing Corporation.The Foyer Maillard opened its doors as a residence for seniors on May 1, 1969, offering supportive housing for seniors in a room and board model. A massive renovation project was undertaken in the 1980s to incorporate licensed care in the building for those residents wishing to age in place. In 2014 the original building was demolished to build a state of the art, purpose-built residence for seniors requiring complex care. La dsignation ICD.D constitue un avantage. propos du Foyer MaillardLa Socit a t cre dans les annes 1960 grce au don dun couple canadien-franais de Maillardville, qui souhaitait construire un foyer abordable pour les ans. Avec lappui des rsidents, de la SCHL et de BC Housing, ce souhait est devenu ralit.Le Foyer Maillard a ouvert ses portes le 1er mai 1969 comme rsidence offrant hbergement et repas aux ans. Dans les annes 1980, une grande rnovation a permis dintgrer des lits de soins afin que les rsidents puissent vieillir sur place . En 2014, lancien btiment a t remplac par une rsidence moderne spcialement conue pour les soins complexes.
