Competition Number: 126018 Type: Support Staff Closing Date: August 24, 2025 Category: Casual Medicine Hat College invites applications for a casual Cook I position at our Medicine Hat Campus. #### **A little about the role:** Working in a fast-paced food services environment, this position will prepare and cook a variety of full course meals including appetizers, main courses, vegetables and desserts in commercial quantities for public consumption. This position will also perform daily line-duties at our grill and restaurant locations, including taking orders, preparing, and serving plated and/or take-out meals at walk-up quick-serve locations. Other duties include cleaning & maintaining equipment, food service areas, supplies and ingredients. The Cook fosters a positive team environment, while maintaining the highest possible standards in food quality and safety. This position works with guidance from the Food Services Coordinator. #### **Details:** As a successful applicant you''ll have: - Minimum of 2 years directly related experience in institutional food services operations - Demonstrated experience with various institutional food services equipment - Applied experience and certification from an accredited educational institution in Food Sanitation and Safety Standards, Food Safety Regulations, and WHMIS standards - Math skills and the ability to speak, read, and write English - Alberta Certified Cook Trade qualification preferred, or an apprentice; equivalencies will be considered - Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Terms of Employment **Term of Appointment:** ASAP to April 17, 2026 **Hours of Work:** Up to 35 hours per week, as needed and as scheduled by supervisor.
