Job Description

Overview This substantive Consultant Cardiologist post will be based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) and Victoria ACH, and join an established cardiology team. Responsibilities Provide care for inpatients and outpatients with a range of cardiology conditions and deliver a full range of consultant services as agreed with the post holder and the specialty team, as determined by service demand. Share on-call responsibility with colleagues: out-of-hours and weekend on call: 1 in 11. Weekday commitment to CCU: 1 in 18; Cardiology wards: 1 in 13. Provide two General Cardiology clinics per week and vet GP referrals. Contribute to the newly developed Cardiology hot clinic rota and, in the future, participate in a proposed cardiology interface care rota for daytime unscheduled care. Some flexibility in timing of sessions to accommodate public holidays, prospective cover in colleagues absence, and hot activity. Informal contact: David Corcoran, Clinical Lead, Cardiology, . UK-trained applicants should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Cardiology or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview. Dual accreditation in GIM would be preferred. Extensive training in general cardiology with ability to develop a sub-specialty interest; non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. On-call and Work Pattern This is a substantive post; on-call commitment: 1 in 11 for out-of-hours and weekends at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
