Their wish was to build an affordable home for seniors. The wish became a reality, with the support and donations of many community residents, CMHC and B.C. Housing Corporation. The Foyer Maillard opened its doors as a residence for seniors on May 1, 1969, offering supportive housing for seniors in a room and board model. A massive renovation project was undertaken in the 1980s to incorporate licensed care in the building for those residents wishing to age in place. In 2014 the original building was demolished to build a state of the art, purpose-built residence for seniors requiring complex care. Foyer Maillard welcomed its first resident into the new building on June 7, 2016. Philosophy of Care We believe that quality of life is achieved through person-centered care and through empowering, embracing and engaging each individual.
