Job Description

Overview Title: Family Physician; option for additional position as a 0.2 FTE Medical Director Contract: Up to 1.0 FTE (typically 1680 hours a year) Location: Harrison Mills, BC new facility opening in Summer 2025 Estimated Yearly Remuneration: The salary range is per the 2024-25 Physician Master Agreement (~$354,000 before additional incentives). Rates are per the Alternative Payments Subsidiary (APSA) Agreement. Family Physicians are not required to contribute toward overhead. Typically a renewable contract will be negotiated. Benefits and/or Incentives: May be eligible to apply for additional incentives in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA). The yameth Health Centre will offer safe, accessible and culturally appropriate primary care services to residents North of the Fraser River between Agassiz and Mission. The vision for yameth includes a clinic housed with a center of excellence, weaving together innovative health and wellness services driven by the community to address health care gaps in the region. The yameth Health Centre is a society-run, Nations-led Primary Care Center under the provincial First Nations Primary Care Initiative. We are a standalone primary care facility partnered with the Ministry of Health, Fraser Health, First Nations Health Authority and the Chilliwack Division of Family Practice. FNHA will host the contract on behalf of the Society. FNHA was named BCs Top Employer for 2025. The FNPCI program aims to improve access to primary care services for First Nations people across BC in a culturally safe manner. The programme is part of the provinces primary care strategy, integrating team-based care in communities throughout BC. The yameth Health Centre services are designed to provide wraparound, team-based primary care, mental health and traditional wellness services for residents of the North Fraser region. There will also be a home hemodialysis unit, pharmacy, level 1 lab and rehabilitation room. It is expected that the Centre will initially operate Monday to Friday (excluding Statutory Holidays) during regular business hours, subject to change based on operational needs. The Family Physician will be the most responsible provider for a patient panel but is expected to collaborate in team-based care and support the practice of Western and Traditional Wellness approaches to patient health. A minimum panel size is expected to reach 650 patients by March 2027 (clinic to have 1 FT FP and 1 FT NP). Responsibilities The Family Physician will practice with cultural humility, providing primary care in a culturally safe, team-based environment that recognizes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the client (and family) to deliver whole-person care, in compliance with BC health and wellness regulations and standards. Qualifications Active practicing license in good standing with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC). Passion for supporting First Nations individuals and families on their health and wellness journeys. Training in Cultural Safety & Humility and willingness to engage in ongoing training. Experience working with First Nations people and communities and providing culturally safe care. Strong collaborative interpersonal and interdisciplinary skills. Current valid Class 5 driving license. Willingness to start working out of the Stsailes Yeqwethet Health Centre as we prepare to move into the new health centre building in Summer 2025. Interest in mentorship, teaching and innovative health and wellness service delivery in a community-driven and team-based environment.
