Overview Director, Finance role at YYJ Victoria International Airport operated by Victoria Airport Authority. Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) manages Victoria International Airport (YYJ) and reinvests all surplus revenue into infrastructure and service improvements, supporting its mission to connect Greater Victoria with the world. As a not-for-profit corporation, VAA has a bold 20-year master plan and a $580 million infrastructure strategy underway, driving growth and modernization of air travel on Vancouver Island. With a high-impact leadership team during a once-in-a-generation expansion, the Director, Finance will lead VAAs financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, contracts and compliance. This strategic role oversees a small, high-performing team and plays a key part in capital planning, debt financing, and systems modernization. The Director will collaborate across departments, contribute to executive and board-level decision-making, and ensure financial systems, processes and policies support VAAs long-term growth and innovation. The role offers meaningful executive exposure and opportunities for progressive leadership within VAAs finance team. Responsibilities Lead VAAs financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, contracts and compliance. Manage a small, high-performing finance team and contribute to capital planning, debt financing, and systems modernization. Collaborate across departments and participate in executive and board-level decision-making. Ensure financial systems, processes and policies support VAAs long-term growth and innovation. Qualifications CPA designation with at least 10 years of experience in complex financial environments. Expertise in finance and accounting, capital planning, contract oversight, and regulatory compliance. Experience in aviation, public transportation, public sector, or similarly regulated organizations is preferred. Integrity, strategic thinking and collaborative leadership; ability to build trusted relationships across the organization and with external stakeholders; a tech-forward finance function.
