Navacord is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient professional to join our team as Tax Manager. This role is responsible for managing tax provisioning, compliance, and reporting for a large corporate group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to Canadian tax regulations. Reporting to the VP, Tax, you will oversee quarterly and annual tax processes, coordinate with external auditors, and provide expert support on tax-related projects, including acquisitions and restructuring initiatives.As Tax Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our tax reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. You will work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to prepare filings, reconcile accounts, and respond to CRA inquiries, while also contributing to process improvements and automation opportunities within the tax function.If you have a strong technical tax background, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, the Tax Manager position at Navacord offers an exciting opportunity to bring your expertise to a growing, dynamic organization.ResponsibilitiesTax Provisioning and Reporting: Reconcile legal entity tax accounts on a quarterly basis as part of the consolidated tax provision (including preparing tax continuity schedules and book-to-file entries)Tax Provisioning and Reporting: Prepare accurate quarterly tax estimates for external reporting purposes under the taxes payable method (experience with deferred taxes is not required, but is an asset)Tax Provisioning and Reporting: Prepare annual tax adjusting journal entries required for the legal-entity compilation financial statements as well as the consolidated audited financial statements (including necessary note disclosures under ASPE)Tax Provisioning and Reporting: Facilitate external audit requests for quarterly reviews and annual audits and assist with preparation of annual compilation financial statementsTax Compliance: Preparing and filing T5 information returns for large corporate groupTax Compliance: Preparing and filing T2 corporate income tax returns for large corporate groupTax Compliance: Assisting with preparation and filing of tax election forms on an as needed basis (experience with section 85 transfers is considered an asset)Tax Projects: Supporting tax projects, including tax due diligence relating to acquisitionsTax Projects: Assisting to gather and summarize information for CRA post assessment reviews and auditsTax Projects: Comfortable speaking with CRA agents and troubleshooting tax issuesTax Projects: Ability to summarize large volumes of tax data to support tax planning and analysisRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Tax, Finance, Accounting or related business fieldsMinimum 3 years of experience in corporate taxation (experience with trusts is not required, but is an asset)Working knowledge of tax technology systems (CCH iFirm) and familiarity with e-filing tax returns is a mustStrong understanding of Canadian tax regulations and compliance requirements and experience with restructuring (amalgamations, wind-ups)Knowledge of indirect taxes, such as GST/HST, is an asset (though not required)Familiarity with payroll taxes is an asset (though not required)Experience handling a large volume of T2 corporate tax returnsStrong Excel skills and familiarity with other standard office software are essential (experience with tax automation is considered an asset)Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectivelyNavacord is actively committed to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
