Education, Training and Experience: Certification with the CAMRT (Nuclear Medicine). CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.Education, Training and ExperienceCertification with the CAMRT (Nuclear Medicine).Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.Valid BC Drivers License. Travel will require the use of a personal vehicle.ResponsibilitiesPerforms a full range of technical work by performing duties such as correlating clinical history with examination to be performed, providing an explanation regarding the test procedure, positioning patients, administering radiopharmaceuticals by intravenous injection, inhalation or orally, and operating Nuclear Medicine cameras, computers and counting equipment in accordance with established standards and procedures.Performs patient care duties before, during and after the examination until the patient has left the department, by methods such as checking intravenous lines, monitoring oxygen delivery to patient, monitoring urinary catheter systems, observing ECG tracings, taking blood pressure readings and responding to emergent situations in accordance to policies and procedures. May be required to perform CPR in emergencies.Receives, measures, dispenses, records, stores and disposes of radioactive materials in compliance with licence regulations; reports hazards to Supervisor/Site Radiation Safety Officer; monitors areas where radioactive substances are used; follows ALARA principles; transports isotopes as required.Prepares diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals under aseptic and pyrogen-free conditions and dispenses patient doses in accordance with SOPs; performs quality control and documentation.Prepares, dispenses and administers radioactive therapeutic agents under aseptic conditions and completes required documentation.Performs non-imaging in-vivo and in-vitro Nuclear Medicine procedures and related tasks such as labeling techniques and administration of labeled products.Under Delegated Medical Act (DMA) approval, administers interventional pharmacologic agents per policies.Completes patient data archiving and ensures correct exams are recorded for billing and workload purposes.Performs administrative duties such as entering patient demographics, ordering supplies, and monitoring inventory.Assesses and triages patients to adapt workflow and equipment depending on patient conditions.Performs routine quality control on Nuclear Medicine equipment and troubleshoots as needed.Maintains radiation safety, OH&S, and infection control compliance; promptly reports unsafe situations.Maintains CPR and TDG certification; participates in ongoing training in infection control and radiation safety.Orients and demonstrates procedures to staff; participates in approved research and Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsSkills And AbilitiesWorking knowledge of PACS and digital imaging systems.Knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with nuclear medicine equipment.Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Regulations.Ability to perform radioisotope examinations in compliance with standards.Knowledge of research processes and methodology.Computer literacy with current applications.Strong communication skills with clients, families, and healthcare teams.Ability to work independently and collaboratively; ability to prioritize workload.CPR proficiency; physical ability to perform the duties.About Fraser HealthFraser Health is the health authority serving Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in British Columbia.
