TMG Search Canada has been retained by our client to fill the position of an Inventory Controls Specialist.The Inventory Controls Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day inventory operations at a fast paced, growing manufacturing facility. This role is based at the plant level, ensuring that materials, components, and finished goods are tracked accurately, move efficiently, and stored safely to support continuous production and the overall growth of the business. The Inventory Controls Specialist will support the finance leadership team to ensure accurate reporting, proper valuation of inventory, and compliance with financial and audit requirements.ResponsibilitiesPlant-Level Inventory ManagementManage material movement across receiving, storage, production, and shipping.Perform daily cycle counts and resolve variances between records and physical stock.Ensure correct labeling, handling, and storage of materials and finished goods.Monitor inventory on the plant floor to prevent production delays.Controls, Accuracy & Finance AlignmentConduct spot checks and lead annual physical counts.Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.Keep ERP/MRP records accurate and up to date.Work closely with the Controller on reporting, month-end reconciliation, and audits.Ensure all processes meet compliance and accounting standards.Team & CollaborationTrain and coach staff on proper inventory procedures.Coordinate with production to match material flow to schedules.Partner with shipping/receiving to improve movement efficiency.Process ImprovementIdentify and correct gaps in inventory handling.Recommend layout or storage changes for better accuracy.Use plant data and reporting to drive continuous improvement.Qualifications35 years of experience in inventory control or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and Excel.Experience conducting cycle counts and physical inventories.Ability to operate forklifts or material handling equipment (license preferred).Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.Excellent communication skills.Detail-oriented with a hands-on approach.Demonstrated financial acumen; able to connect plant operations to reporting requirements.Reliable, organized, and committed to maintaining smooth operations and cohesive team environment.To see more, view:
