Job Description

Overview North Queens Health Clinic is seeking a Family Physician to provide coverage during a physician absence from September 15 2025 to January 16 2026. Responsibilities Locum physicians provide coverage for family practices including inpatient and nursing home care as well as specialist hospital and office coverage as requested. Compensation & Benefits Minimum daily income guarantee of $1200 for family physicians ($600 for half-day) with additional earnings if shadow billings exceed this amount. Travel expenses including kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night) and airfare (up to $1500) are reimbursed, along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions. Qualifications All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA). Community Details Caledonia is a small rural community of roughly 1500 residents situated in the northern part of the Region of Queens Municipality, Nova Scotia, along Trunk 8, also known as the Kejimkujik Scenic Drive. Located about 50km north of Liverpool and around 17km south of the main entrance to Kejimkujik National Park, Caledonia serves as the gateway to some of Nova Scotia''s most scenic wilderness areas. Outdoor recreation abounds with access to rail trails, routes between Caledonia and Colpton, and nearby waterways, lakes and forests ideal for canoeing, hiking, wildlife watching and camping. The Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute, situated between Caledonia and Kempt, advances environmental research in the Southwest Nova Biosphere Reserve area.
