The Dajoh Programming Assistant will assist the Recreation Programming Team Leader and the Special Events and Programs Coordinator in planning, managing and implementing programming services in the Dajoh Youth and Elder Facility for the residents of the Six Nations of the Grand River within the policies and procedures established by the Six Nations Council. RESPONSIBILITIES: TECHNICAL Responsible for front desk duties at the Dajoh Youth and Elder Facility including sign in and sign out procedures, registration of participants, provide facility information to the public, and loan of equipment forms completed. Hours of work will be evenings and weekends. Supervising of facilities during drop in hours. Assisting with actual set up of equipment for the facilities as required.. ADMINISTRATIVE Responsible for assisting and supervising gym, youth and elders drop in hours. Responsible for front desk job duties such as participant registration, sign in and sign out forms are completed and equipment loan forms completed. Responsible to take private bookings of the rooms and gym as requested. Responsible to be the front line greeter to the facility, provide direction, provide information on what is happening in facilities each evening. Assist with the supervision of children, youth and elders while at the programs to ensure the safety of all participants. Responsible for being in attendance at all evening programs. Responsible for ensuring the gym facility is left in a clean manner as well as ensuring no participants are running in the halls or playing in the washrooms. Answering the phones and directing to the correct person during evening and weekend hours. COMMUNICATION AND LIASON Effective communication with supervisor, staff, community members and general public. Effective communication with public regarding special events, facility programming and ensuring all pertinent information is made available. Perform media and public relations regarding events as assigned. Completion of registration forms and participant waivers for all the programs. Ensuring room set up forms are completed as required for various programs. Assist with the Dajoh Youth and Elder facility duties, maintaining registration database, supervising facility and front desk duties. Assist Programming Team Leader and Special Events/Programs Coordinator with evening programs and special events as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Major element is that peak activity hours are usually during leisure hours such as late afternoons, evenings and weekends. Working hours will vary from week to week, according to scheduled community events and activities. Core working hours will involve evenings and weekends and the employee may be expected to attend events as considered necessary. Work has a high public profile and contact with community representatives. Subject to peak periods, interruptions and deadlines. Periodically involves unscheduled hours and out of the office work.
