Hays Civil Construction is partnered with our client in the Greater Toronto Area, to hire a Civil Superintendent. Your new Company The business is a General Contractor with an established presence across the GTA, focused on civil road construction projects; from parking lots for private clients to municipal roadway widening and highway replacement for municipal and provincial partners. Due to continued growth and progression planning, the team is excited to welcome aboard their new Civil Superintendent to lead a key project for them. Your new Role The Civil Superintendent has a direct impact on the success of the business. This role is responsible for ensuring all site work leads to the successful completion of the assigned project, ranging in size and value up to 15 million. The Civil Superintendent will work closely with the Senior Superintendent and Operations Manager. This role will act as the backup for the Senior Superintendent as required and oversees project site work processes and is responsible for construction activities within the set design, budget and scheduling guidelines. This role is responsible for communication and proactive coordination with other managers and sub-contractors on site. And, will be accountable to make decisions to support the effective planning and utilization of material and human resources on site to prevent conflict and ensure work is completed safely, accurately on time and meets company quality standards. In this role you will focus on the key areas as follows: leadership, planning and financial, and operating. To succeed in this role To succeed as the Civil Superintendent you will bring, post-secondary education relating to the industry and/or the equivalent in experience. You will bring 8+ years of experience in Civil Construction, and 4+ years experience in a leadership capacity. You will have experience in road building projects, and provincial and municipal government contract experience is highly valued. You will be forward thinking, progressive and be passionate about leading from the front and operating safe crews to complete projects on time and within budget.
