Job Description

Overview The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in the area of Pure Mathematics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. Qualifications Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Mathematics by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates in all areas of Pure Mathematics will be considered. Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. The successful candidate will be a member of the tri-campus graduate Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto. Evidence of Excellence Evidence of excellence in research can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked Mathematics journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials listed below) submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.
