Position Job title: Environmental Attendant Department: Environmental Services Employment status: Full-time Hours of work: d6d (7:30am3:30pm), alternating weekends; subject to change per Article 3 Management Rights Location: Humber River Health, Wilson Site Labour Group: NOWU Reporting relationship: Manager, Acute Environmental & Linen Services Hourly rate: $26.356 $26.877 Position Responsibilities Clean, maintain, dust, and damp mop all assigned areas Dust, wash, and polish furniture and fixtures Clean and vacuum carpets where applicable Gather and dispose of garbage and linen Clean isolation rooms, handle broken glass and dispose of body fluids Clean stretchers, stretchers/life support (S/L) and wheelchairs Perform related tasks as necessary for hospital functioning Understand and comply with Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures Seek clarification when unsure of a policy, procedure, or assignment Follow departmental procedures for sign-in/out at shift start/end via computer Pick up and return PDA at shift start and end Work independently and in isolated areas as needed Participate in orientation and training of new staff Identify personal educational needs and communicate to Management Participate in training, meetings, or special projects as required Participate in quality control checks and continuous improvement activities Use equipment and supplies efficiently and appropriately Maintain awareness of department and hospital QA activities, policies, and procedures Demonstrate understanding of WHMIS, disaster, fire, search, bomb-threat and other emergencies Practice safe work habits and report any accidents or incidents; cooperate in investigations Commit to safe and compassionate patient care and a healthy work environment Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act provisions, including PPE usage and hazard reporting Understand the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) and attend required Health and Safety training Qualifications Ontario Secondary School diploma, equivalent, or higher education required Good command of English (reading, verbal, and written) Recent housekeeping experience preferred Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (training as required) Ability to perform routine duties with accuracy in a noisy, busy environment Experience operating heavy-duty equipment (e.g., buffer machinery)Ability to respond to Code Whites Ability to lift up to 35 kg; stand for long periods; repetitive bending and reaching Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team; flexible to changing routines Excellent attendance and discipline-free record Equal Opportunity and Accommodations Humber River Health is an equal opportunity employer and will accommodate needs under the Ontario Human Rights Code.
