Overview As the General Superintendent, you will be responsible for the field planning, management, and field execution of assigned civil construction projects with the objective of managing costs, productivity and efficiency, while meeting schedules, safety standards, maximizing equipment utilization and achieving client satisfaction. You will ensure all onsite construction is completed in full accordance with plans, specifications and superior construction practices. You will provide personal leadership to create positive and productive relationships with all internal and external parties in order to maximize the project performance and results. Responsibilities Oversee and manage construction site operations on civil construction projects, while developing a positive environment for site teams to strive for excellence and succeed. Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environmental Protection on the project. Apply the project specific safety standards to promote Pomerleaus HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations and codes with all employees and trade partners on the project. Use a proactive approach to determine project materials are supplied and work is carried out in strict compliance with our Quality Program. Establish, identify, and hire on-site craft personnel, taking ultimate responsibility for their efforts and results. Develop and maintain open communication with crews, trades, project team and clients to ensure project performance, safety and quality requirements are met. Lead, mentor and walk with the on-site team to support the project team. Examine field conditions, correct inaccuracies and implement cost-saving measures. Collaborate with trade partners and consultants. Develop and drive the construction schedule (including three week lookahead schedules) in conjunction with the project team to meet completion dates and milestones. Apply problem-solving skills to recommend innovative methods that increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure project excellence and productivity. Be a role model during coordination meetings with clients and associated representatives. Ensure workforce training for the site team is up to date and aligned with project needs. Ensure the project is built according to the approved plan, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes, with current content. Oversee the management of construction site inventory and coordinate with Logistics to ensure accuracy. Qualifications 15+ years experience in the civil and infrastructure construction industry. A construction related certificate, diploma or degree. A proven track record of project success and team collaboration on civil construction projects. Strong knowledge of construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, quality and cost control. The ability to quickly identify problematic situations, identify possible causes, produce effective solutions and collaboratively lead a large team to successful completion. A passion to develop, maintain and execute the project schedule. Good computer skills and previous experience with scheduling software. Knowledge of the local market.
