Overview The Salvation Army Meighen Health Centre is a 168-bed long-term care facility serving seniors in Long Term Care, Retirement Residence, and the Community. We are owned and operated by The Salvation Army and funded by The Ministry of Health. Our Core Values are Compassion, Accountability, Relevance and Excellence. Position: Friendly Visitor (Volunteer) Location: 155 Millwood Road, Toronto, Ontario M4S 1J6 (On-site). This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity. What youll be doing As a Friendly Visitor , you will visit with and go for walks with residents in the Alzheimer Unit and the Retirement Home. You may assist with recreational programs as needed. Responsibilities Visit residents and participate in walks and activities Assist with recreational programs as needed Requirements Must be kind and respectful and enjoy working with the elderly Minimum age: 18 Minimum hours per week: 5 hours Proof of Covid vaccination (two doses) and ability to show proof of vaccination Vulnerable police check and a two-step TB test Police records check and TB test required; online education may be included English required Additional notes: Building is accessible; close to the Yonge line subway; free meal if volunteering more than 4 hours.
