Baytex has an excellent opportunity for a Junior to Intermediate Operations Geologist.This full-time position is located in our Calgary office and reports directly to the Geosciences Manager, Heavy Oil Business Unit. Responsibilities:Work with the geoscience and engineering teams to execute drilling programs, including real time geosteering in collaboration with field teams Prepare pre-spud geology packages, including directional plans, progs, and offset dataInterpret geological and drilling information to optimize well placement and efficienciesCompile and present results and learnings to senior staff and managementAbility and ambition to take on future responsibilities including exploration, long-range planning, land management, enhanced oil recovery projects and corporate reserves Qualifications / Experience:Bachelors degree in Geology, along with 2 to 8 years of relevant work experienceWellsite geology or operations background is required, with experience in heavy oil horizontal, multilateral, and strat drilling preferredGeosteering experience (remote or onsite) is favoredStrong knowledge of rig operations, directional drilling, striplogs/CanstratUnderstanding of wireline well log responses and interpretationsAbility to clearly and confidently communicate with field and office staffExcellent interpersonal and written communication, organization, and analytical skillsCapability to stay composed, troubleshoot and make critical decisions in unplanned eventsExperience with mapping programs (Geoscout, Accumap) is preferredCurrent status or required qualification for membership in APEGAInterested and qualified applicants may submit their resume in confidence to .
