The Career: As Culinary Services Manager for a V!VA Community, you will manage all aspects of the food service department including the main dining room, the pub, Perks! and the Assisted Living dining room. You will mentor a team of approximately 20 culinary service Team Members and work with the Executive Chef to deliver a consistently superior culinary program throughout the Community. Key Responsibilities Oversee the management of the food services department Work closely with the Executive Chef to deliver superior service to the Community Members Ensure quality food delivery, dining and catering service, set up and cleanup of dining rooms and presentation of all areas including the Pub Role model and drive excellence in customer service throughout the Community Assure the implementation and efficient delivery of the V!VAlicious/Dining Services program Establish and assure timely, open, and effective communication of all food service Team Members with Community Members, family members and guests, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction Assist the Executive Chef in the development of and adherence to the food services budget, ensuring the delivery of excellent services and products while achieving financial goals for the Community Responsibility of managing a licensed pub and associated activities Plan, organize, and supervise the activities of the food service department to provide high quality food service along with the Executive Chef Build, develop, and effectively manage all food service Team Members, optimizing individual and team performance through effective leadership, mentoring, and training Establish and monitor workflow, job routines, evaluate performance and production, and make changes as necessary to improve quality of service Coordinate and participate in food service activities and special events as required Establishes and oversees the scheduling of the food service team including daily cleaning duties Determines what specific training and certification is required for food handling Team Members and ensures it is executed (e.g., Smart Serve, Food Handlers) Create revenue generating programs, activities and events that add value to the Community Members experience Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key suppliers Participate in and attend all in-service training and education programs as scheduled Other duties as assigned Qualifications 3-5 years hands-on experience in food service management in a retirement residence, hotel, banquet facility and/or restaurant 3-5 years management experience in a similar environment Graduate of a post-secondary institution in a culinary and/or food services program Have Smart Serve accreditation Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with community members Strong computer skills for job-related functions including use of Excel, Word and various job-related software programs Ability to implement regulations such as the Health and Safety Act and Food Handlers program Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities Positive attitude, enthusiasm and energy with the ability to work as a team Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a large diverse group of Team Members Experience with and the ability to plan and manage a budget Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends Able to bend, stretch, sit and stand for long periods and lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
