The Packaging Designer will be responsible for creating visually compelling and brand-aligned packaging designs that enhance the Tim Hortons guest experience. This role requires a strong background in packaging design, with an eye for detail, creativity, and an understanding of how design impacts consumer perception. The ideal candidate will bring structural and visualization design experience to innovate and optimize packaging solutions that are both functional and visually appealing. Key Responsibilities Develop creative, on-brand packaging designs for a wide range of Tim Hortons products, including cups, boxes, bags, and other food and beverage packaging. Create packaging artwork. 3D rendering of packaging concepts. Design of signage, digital/social content, presentations, gift cards, internal communications, newsletters, infographics, influencer mailers, convention elements and other marketing materials. Ensure all designs adhere to Tim Hortons brand guidelines, maintaining visual consistency across all packaging touchpoints. Collaborate with product development and supply chain teams to design and prototype packaging solutions that are cost-effective, sustainable, and functional, while enhancing the guest experience. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously from concept to final production, meeting deadlines and coordinating with internal teams and external vendors. Work cross-functionally with marketing, R&D, and operations teams to ensure packaging aligns with brand campaigns and operational requirements. Incorporate market trends and consumer feedback into designs to resonate with Tim Hortons diverse customer base. Liaise with printers and manufacturers to ensure high-quality execution of designs, troubleshoot production issues, and maintain quality control. Liaise with creative agencies. Contribute to sustainability initiatives by exploring eco-friendly packaging materials and solutions. Qualifications Bachelors degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Packaging Design, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in packaging design (required). Experience in structural design for packaging (strongly desired). Experience in digital design is preferred. Portfolio showcasing innovative packaging solutions, preferably in the food and beverage or quick-service restaurant industry. Technical Skills Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Experience in creating 3D renderings is strongly desired. Knowledge of 3D modeling or structural design software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks) is a bonus. Familiarity with printing processes, materials, and production techniques specific to packaging. Soft Skills Strong creative vision with attention to detail and a passion for storytelling through design. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills to articulate design concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Knowledge and understanding of food safety regulations, sustainability trends, and packaging innovations in the QSR industry. Bonus Qualifications Experience in structural design, including creating prototypes or optimizing packaging for efficiency and cost. Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and practices. Familiarity with Tim Hortons brand and its role in Canadian culture.
