AtkinsRaliss Minerals and Metals team in Canada is made up of more than 400 employees who work on large-scale projects to support mining sustainability, pit-to-port opportunities, metallurgical plant engineering, or mine closure and capabilities in the study, design, and construction of mining projects across a wide range of mining and processing methods and commodities. We are seeking a Lead / Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Global Minerals & Metals (M&M) team and to support our growth to align with the demand to supply responsibly sourced critical minerals. The Senior Electrical Engineer will support all Electrical activities during a mineral process plant design in all phases of a project execution. This opportunity will be to support the M&M business located in any of the major cities of Canada: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton. There is potential for work at client sites and project responsibilities will be added as needed. In some cases, the opportunity may be available to relocate to other Canadian or international destinations for extended periods of time. Your Role Within The Team Provide electrical systems design leadership and project management for design mandates throughout the project lifecycle including Field Engineering. Review, understand and clearly communicate all relevant client requirements, provide design options and recommendations to meet those requirements. Lead and participate in site surveys of existing electrical systems. Lead and actively participate in, and document, meetings with clients, contractors, and other consultants. Review tender submissions and quotations from contractors. Work with contractors to quickly resolve onsite issues and ensure contractors conformance to design requirements. Prepare design briefs, schematics, project documents and perform all required engineering calculations. The Ideal Candidate The candidate must hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada and have relevant experience in mining and mineral processing facilities, including the design and integration of E-Houses, medium- and low-voltage (MV/LV) switchgear, and Motor Control Centers (MCCs). A minimum of 10 years of experience in power system design is required, covering medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, protection and control schemes, grounding systems, and arc flash mitigation strategies. Proficiency in engineering tools such as ETAP, SKM, and AutoCAD Electrical is essential. Knowledge of high voltage electrical systems, substation equipment as well as distribution; strong understanding of applicable standards and codes, including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA and IEEE standards, as well as mining-specific safety and electrical regulations. Experience leading multidisciplinary coordination efforts among electrical, mechanical, and automation teams. Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $122,500 - $168,400 annually) (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
