Job Description

Overview Senior Mechanical Designer role at Mott MacDonald. We are a leading engineering, management, and development services company with projects across Buildings, Energy, Transportation, and Water. Our North American team emphasizes sustainability, innovation, and collaboration. We have an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Designer / BIM Specialist to work on Built Environment (Buildings and Facilities) projects in Canada, assisting in planning, design, and construction of commercial, industrial, institutional, governmental, transportation, and general infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Work within a Mechanical engineering team or BIM team in a multi-disciplinary, time-sensitive environment with changing priorities. Take personal responsibility to ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and within the firms quality standards. Collaborate with other disciplines and offices within Mott MacDonald. Lead junior BIM technicians, specifically in Mechanical BIM design. Develop drawings, layouts, sketches, and/or marked-up prints using drafting tools or computer-aided design/drafting programs; prepare 2D and 3D packages from design models. Assist in the preliminary layout of complex projects, defining appropriate drawings and information. Perform drafting to client, company, and national standards (symbols, nomenclatures, engineering terms, etc.). Understand and perform engineering calculations and designs independently. Prepare design modifications from provided sketches and data when prototypes are not available. Review and check others work as requested. Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers to resolve design/drawing issues and achieve objectives. Verify the accuracy and completeness of deliverables in assigned areas. Respect and enforce policies and procedures in drawing preparation. Support project timing and budgeting across project stages. Perform other related duties that may contribute to the projects. Qualifications Minimum 8 years of BIM experience with a focus on Mechanical design. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Canadian college or equivalent. BIM Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Canadian institute or equivalent. Experience in transit and aviation is preferable but not essential. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit (latest versions). Excellent communication skills for team-based work. Experience in drafting electrical systems is a plus. Design experience creating mechanical drawings including single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and control diagrams. Willingness to learn, grow, and advance in BIM and mechanical fields.
