Ensure that existing standard operating procedures, quality programs and welding procedure specifications are being followed by company staff. Perform weld inspection as per Code. Supervise welding certification of new hires; minimum Level 2 CWB certification. Review welding specifications and requirements for each project; work with team to solve fabrication challenges. Identify project quality control requirements and ensure they are always met. Review project drawings and specifications; develop inspection and test plans and implement them. Inspect materials and finished goods to ensure they meet Code, customer requirements and contract specifications, including welds, welding consumables, base material, cut & formed parts, layout work and coatings. Maintain effective verbal and written communication; proficient in business office applications. Working knowledge of welding, metal fabrication and machining processes. Working knowledge of CWB W47.1, W47.2 and W59 and AWS D1.1 and D1.7 standards. Experience in development and implementation of QC programs, SOPs, PQRs and WPS. Familiarity with requirements of the custom metal fabricating industries. Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. Perform source inspections, in-process inspections and final inspections. Communicate required adjustments to shop foreman and arrange re-work, confirming re-work through ERP and procedural systems. Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste; input data into quality database. Perform daily inspections and tests as necessary to achieve the quality required in drawings and specifications for all contract works, on-site or off-site. Maintain QA/QC documents for the project, including certificates, calibration, test results, inspection requests, non-conformance reports, materials delivered and other QA/QC documents. Perform inspections, prepare reports and archive documentation; collect and file required Quality Records. Carry out inspection and checking for all quality-related procedures in all Channel workshops; ensure activities align with approved method statements and inspection/test plans. Evaluate the qualifications of welders and NDT technicians with regard to assigned activities. Perform precision dimensional measurements. Review production documentation for compliance and adequacy of inspection; develop required inspection criteria for production of quality products as necessary. Analyze compliance with applicable quality elements, standards and processes; initiate corrective and preventative actions; verify effectiveness of implementations. Ensure products meet or exceed internal and customer requirements. Work with production, purchasing and engineering to ensure quality requirements of production parts are met. Coordinate with clients for quality matters and liaise with client QA/QC departments for inspections and resolution of quality problems, including closure of Non-Compliance Reports.
