Sheriff's Department Disqualifier The Halifax County Parks and Recreation Director will manage the operations, budget development, and direction for the department within the context of strategic goals and objectives, develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures, and regularly evaluate programs and services for development and improvement. The director will plan, organize, direct, and administer county-wide parks and recreation programs for various age groups, including the supervision of departmental staff and the inspection of existing and recommendation of new parks and recreation facilities. The director will regularly facilitate meetings of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and foster relationships with municipal governments and community groups to further develop countywide parks and recreation programs and facilities. The director will seek grant opportunities and prepare grant applications for parks and recreation facilities and programming and ensure compliance of any grant awards. Requirements The position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with Bachelors degree in recreation management, physical education, or a related field. The selected director will have a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible supervisory and management experience overseeing the development and implementation of varied parks and recreation programs. Experience should include programming for athletics as well as general recreation for children, youth, and adults. Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina, CPR/First Aid certification, and completion of an AED Course within 60 days of hire. Compensation The hiring range for this position is $64,253 $81,357. Halifax County provides a comprehensive employee benefits package, including membership in the N.C. Local Government Employees Retirement System.
