Overview Quantum Horizons Alberta (QHA) is an Alberta-wide initiative launched in 2023 to expand foundational knowledge of quantum science and position Alberta as a global quantum research hub. QHA partners the University of Calgary, the University of Alberta, and the University of Lethbridge to recruit and support a cadre of quantum research professors, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students. Responsibilities Lead and oversee strategic planning, operational, and research directions for QHA. Drive the initiative to new frontiers of knowledge in quantum science, ensuring the horizons of foundational quantum science are extended. Establish and promote a culture of excellence, inclusion, and international scientific stature. Coordinate with partner universities and stakeholders to build a sustainable, innovative quantum ecosystem. Qualifications Ph.D. or equivalent; appointment commensurate with a full professor (tenure). Active leadership in an innovative, externally funded research program in foundational theoretical or experimental quantum science. History of supervising graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and teaching quantum science at undergraduate and graduate levels. Proven track record in securing research funding, developing a coherent scientific vision and research plan, and engaging in collaborations. Outstanding communication skills, capable of articulating the vision and achievements of QHA to a global audience.
