Convergint is looking for a full-time, team-oriented, results-driven, Safety Coordinator to join our amazing culture at our Toronto or Ottawa location. The Safety Coordinator will administer the implementation of the Convergint health and safety program by building awareness and understanding of safe work practices, procedures, and requirements. You will work closely with management and assist with safety related programs and tasks as well as conduct toolbox and safety committee meetings as required. The position is responsible for supporting efforts by Convergint in meeting their obligations and interactions with the provincial OH&S, safety compliance organizations, and our customer site requirements. This role will serve our Ontario locations - Ottawa, Mississauga, Brantford and Windsor in daily operations. What youll do with Our Training and Your Experience Develop, implement and maintain health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, practices and standards relative to business needs, peer best practices, and changing business environment. Lead activities required to conduct/plan/participate in the annual COR audit including gathering safety documentation, onsite observations, and create awareness between colleagues on safety responsibilities. Complete and maintain incident reports and site safety statistics on a monthly, quarterly, annual basis for reporting to senior management. Conduct incident investigations and maintain documentation according to legislation and Convergint policy. Create and communicate safety bulletins and alerts based on incident investigation learning and trends. Conduct site safety observation and inspections on a regularly scheduled basis. Conduct formal safety meetings with a written agenda and attend scheduled toolbox meetings to identify and address safety related concerns with colleagues. Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, communicate and manage their implementation. Review and maintain records of field level safety paperwork such as hazard assessments, audits, JHA reviews, WPOs, toolbox meetings, near miss reports, equipment and work site inspections. Conduct New Hire Safety Orientations and administer the Green Hand Colleague program. Conduct and organize specific safety training as required. Participate as a subject matter expert and be actively involved in the Regional Health & Safety Committee. Assess colleague training needs at the CTC location and recommend safety training as applicable to work performed. Coordinate and consult with site and CTC management regarding health and safety issues. Act as safety resource and lead safety initiatives including providing safety related information to the sales team for inclusion in proposals. Ensure your work site and CTC have disaster/emergency preparedness plans, conduct training and planned drills as required to evaluate response. Travel between job sites, projects, and CTCs when required to support colleagues apply the HSE program. Ensure availability of necessary Personal Protective Equipment for all colleagues as required. Monitor internal and external sources to identify and communicate relevant safety information within the organization. Keep necessary certifications current and attend training courses as required. Assist Supervisors in establish competency programs for their colleagues based on assigned tasks. What Youll Need Experience in a construction, energy and industrial work environments is preferred. Strong team leadership, team building and facilitation skills. Shows initiative regularly engages in proactive safety behavior and looks for opportunities to improve. Extremely adaptable responds effectively to changes in situation or information; ability to influence others and build consensus using good written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills necessary to resolve conflict or problems and look for solutions. Must be able to comply with company and site-specific drug and alcohol policies. Excellent MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Share Point, and Power Bi skills. Strong verbal, written, computer, problem solving, research and presentation skills. Requirements Minimum of 5-7 years of previous site safety coordinator experience and accredited NCSO is preferred. Working knowledge of Provincial / Federal Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board regulations is required. Experience with internal and external COR audits. Education/Certifications Completed NCSO certification including a valid first aid certificate.
