We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our Estimating team in the West, in either our Port Coquitlam, Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton office and be an integral part of delivering continued success within this department. Responsibilities Prepare accurate tender prices from drawings and specifications. Perform quantity takeoffs and enter data into estimating software. Assemble all elements of an estimate including labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. Prepare takeoffs from drawings and documents that may be less than 100% complete. Understand labour variances between project types and apply correction factors. Provide detailed labor breakdowns to assist with budget creation and project management. Prepare budgets for prospective projects. Attend and participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-bid meetings as required. Participate in estimating turnover meetings with the project team to assist with planning and budgeting. Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub-trades to ensure competitive pricing. Review project to develop a win strategy and final cost reports for historical use. Interpret client and design information with industry knowledge to include complete systems. Critically review RFPs, preliminary designs, estimates, and proposals to enable best decisions in consultation with management. Decide which projects to pursue based on backlog, complexity, schedule, client, resources, and target market. Adhere to estimating schedules as set by policy and meetings. Qualifications and Requirements Post-secondary diploma in electrical or construction technology or related field, or equivalent experience. Extensive experience in electrical contracting; engineering or CET considered an asset. 35+ years of relevant electrical estimating experience with strong cost estimation and proposal development in construction settings. Ability to work effectively in a team; produce detailed estimates and proposals. Strong understanding of specifications, construction methods, and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and multi-tasking skills. Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn and be challenged. Ability to interpret construction drawings, documentation, contracts, and cost coding systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with estimating software (Autobid Mechanical and Autobid Sheetmetal) is an asset. Excellent organizational and decision-making/problem-solving skills. Experience in commercial and institutional projects is an asset.
