Overview Plumber (Full-Time) at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Fairmont Royal York, Toronto Join us in creating our next chapter with your story. The Opportunity Responsible for performing work necessary to keep the plumbing infrastructure and fixtures to Fairmont Engineering Department standards. Carry out daily preventative tasks, emergency and planned troubleshooting and repairs, new installs and retrofits of plumbing systems throughout the hotel as directed by the Director of Engineering or designated Engineering Managers. In This Role Youll Get To Troubleshoot and repair equipment, machinery, valves, pumps and building systems related to water/sewage/steam piping (including chilled water, potable water, sewage, hot water, condenser water, return water, steam lines, kitchen, laundry, valet, HVAC). Execute work in a preventive maintenance program to ensure plumbing systems and equipment are inspected, repaired as required, and in good running order. Implement temporary safe solutions to minimize guest impact when needed. Oversee plumbing work to ensure it meets Royal York Hotel standards and the Building Code of Ontario. Respond to guest service requests for repairs in guest rooms and public areas (e.g., unclogging toilets, bathtubs & sinks, changing light bulbs, A/C unit, TV, windows, furniture). Maintain an adequate stock of plumbing supplies and parts for day-to-day maintenance. Maintain kitchen equipment (freezers, coolers, cooking equipment) in good condition. Collaborate with contractors and in-house staff on renovations, prepare materials list and pricing for projects. Ensure supplies are stored and organized to maintain inventories and tool levels for ongoing work. Attend training courses to stay current on mechanical technology related to the job. May work weekends, holidays and shifts as scheduled by the Director of Engineering. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Certified plumber under the Apprenticeship and Tradesmen Qualification Act or equivalent experience. Five (5) years experience in a similar role. Working knowledge to repair HVAC, mechanical and electrical equipment systems within the hotel. WHMIS & OHSA. Excellent guest service with ability to communicate in English. Physical Aspects Of Position Constant standing and walking throughout shift. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs. Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
