Overview Contract- Senior Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Specialist role at PowerCo We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mechanical & Electrical Specialist to lead the construction management of mechanical and electrical systems across our projects. In this role, you will ensure that all operations meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety codes, contributing to the successful delivery of our high-quality projects. This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas, ON. This role is intended to be filled through a third-party staffing agency for a 12-month term, with potential for extension. To support onboarding, the successful candidate will begin on a temporary contract directly with our organization before transitioning to the agency. The role, responsibilities, and reporting structure will remain consistent throughout, ensuring a smooth and stable experience. Key Responsibilities Plan, direct, and oversee all on-site mechanical and electrical activities, ensuring compliance with project design, regulatory standards, and safety protocols. Conduct detailed reviews of construction drawings, documentation and BIM models to identify potential conflicts between architectural/structural elements and mechanical/electrical systems. Ensure that all mechanical and electrical systems align with project requirements, and proactively resolve any issues to avoid delays. Review and coordinate relevant drawings and documentation to streamline workflows, eliminate schedule delays, and ensure smooth execution of mechanical and electrical work. Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to monitor project schedules, manage RFIs (Requests for Information), and oversee the approval of shop drawings. Supervise the on-site progress of mechanical and electrical installations to ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Monitor and control material and labor costs related to mechanical and electrical components, ensuring accurate and timely quality reporting. Assist in resource planning and procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency. Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective actions as necessary to avoid delays or cost overruns. Provide expert direction during the testing of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring optimal operation and system functionality. Lead project closeout activities, including final inspections, documentation, and handover processes to internal stakeholders. Manage the preparation and submission of project reports, including progress updates, inspection records, and compliance documentation. Perform any additional tasks as required to support project completion. What You Bring To The Team Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related construction field, or an equivalent combination of technical training and industry certifications. P.Eng. or P.E. preferred. 5+ years of experience in managing complex projects in Clean and Dry Rooms environments, Automotive, or pharmaceutical sectors. Proficient in project management, including scope development, specification creation, tendering, contractor management, quality assurance, and project closeout. Experience working within large, complex project teams and participating in project meetings. Experience working on Design-Build projects. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications; understanding the design and construction process nuances. Ability to work safely on an active construction site in accordance with the Health & Safety Plan. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with CAD software, BIM, and other construction management tools. Knowledge of local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Excellent communication and coordination skills; ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Detail-oriented with diligence in ensuring components meet project goals.
