The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate from the Chemical Laboratory Technology (CLT) Program or an equivalent to join the Centre of Energy in Research and Clean Unconventional Technology Solutions (CERCUTS) within the Department of Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS) at SAIT. The main responsibilities include assisting in applied research projects related to Natural Resources and Clean Technologies, including water treatment, high temperature and pressure systems, air quality monitoring, and waste-to-value products. The role involves experiments, prototyping, testing, chemical analysis, and regulatory compliance, under the guidance of the Laboratory Coordinator and Project Lead, with a focus on safety and environmental regulations. The Role Preparation and analysis of samples such as water, waste water, and gases. Operating analytical instruments for testing various chemical and environmental parameters. Overseeing sampling programs and ensuring third-party validation where necessary. Assisting in method development and in-house testing procedures. Supporting operation and testing of prototypes like steam generators, hydrogen generators, and batteries. Preparing analytical and technical reports. Maintaining good laboratory practices and environmental safety. Handling and disposal of hydrocarbons and other wastes safely. Qualifications & Experience Diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technology or equivalent from an accredited institution. Eligible for CICAN internship criteria: written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to walk between labs, climb stairs, and lift equipment up to 40 lbs. WHMIS and H2S Alive training desirable (training provided if needed). Proficiency in standard computer software and Microsoft Office. Willingness to travel and work shifts occasionally.
