Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Supervisor to join the Environmental Services/Housekeeping team at Dogwood Care Home and supporting additional VCH sites in Vancouver, BC to promote a safe and respectful working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff. As a Housekeeping Supervisor with Vancouver Coastal Health you will: Supervise over sixteen (16) Housekeeping Aides and Lead Hands, and be responsible for organizing staff, resources, and daily activities to meet established housekeeping standards. Order, monitor and receive Environmental Services supplies, maintain related reports, monitor expenditures and prepare budget estimates, and act as a liaison with other departments. Perform a variety of cleaning duties such as: damp dusting; dry and wet mopping of floors; floor maintenance and refinishing using appropriate equipment; cleaning & disinfecting ceiling, wall, vent, washroom, bed, furniture and equipment; regular and biomedical waste collection and removal; spill clean-up; bed-making; and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility according to organizational policies, procedures and routines. About Environmental Services with VCH: Many people are familiar with the terms 'janitorial' or 'housekeeping' but these terms don't necessarily encompass all their responsibilities. Rather, the role of Environmental Services is to work with hospital staff to keep employees, patients and visitors safe with proper medical cleaning and disinfecting. Education & Experience: Grade 10, plus three (3) years recent, related experience, including six (6) months' supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC Drivers License as local area travel may be required. Knowledge & Abilities: Ability to supervise. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
