Overview Executive Sous Chef at Factor_. Location: Mississauga (Laird HWY 403 & Dundas St W). We are seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations for our newest brand: Factor (factormeals.ca), a healthy, ready-to-heat meal delivery service. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will manage a team of Sous Chefs and Cooks to ensure high-quality, consistent meals and on-time production as we rapidly scale this new business. What Youll Be Doing Oversee product quality, food safety, and people safety in a mass production kitchen during our newly launched second shift Ensure every meal leaving the kitchen is of the highest quality and consistent in taste, appearance, texture, and aroma Continuously improve product quality and internal processes with support of the Executive Chef and Recipe Developers Train, coach, and develop a team of Sous Chefs and hourly kitchen employees across prep, cooking, assembly, and cooling Develop, implement, and monitor efficacy of process controls throughout the kitchen Manage performance metrics on safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and morale Provide regular progress reports to the Executive Chef, conduct root cause analyses if off-target, and drive continuous improvement Maintain upkeep of the kitchen, including equipment and inventory Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and federal and provincial requirements Track and manage food storage, rotation, and quality Collaborate with other departments to execute plant-wide process improvement initiatives Make in-flight adjustments to keep production on track and goals met Work in all areas of the production facility, including refrigerated areas, performing tasks from receiving ingredients and packaging to preparation, cooking, plating, and order packing Comply with OH&S acts and regulations and report hazards Use personal protective equipment as directed Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent qualifications preferred 5+ years experience as a sous chef, running a commissary or large restaurant/banquet/catering Familiarity with CFIA guidelines Strong understanding of various diets, including Ketogenic and Low Carb Skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing projects Lean Six Sigma experience a plus Computer literate with Microsoft Office / Google Suite Passionate about helping people achieve their goals and improve themselves Ability to lead, train, and develop a large group of employees and manage an active kitchen Problem-solving mindset; open to new approaches Strong communication skills; adapt communication to different audiences and communicate with tact Ability to multitask, manage recipes, maintain efficiency, and deliver on time No/low ego; receptive to direction and feedback Comfortable with hot, cold, and cool environments (0-30C) What Youll Get In Return Competitive salary and health benefits 75% discount on HelloFresh or Chefs Plate weekly box subscription High-impact work helping families in Canada Opportunity to learn and grow Supportive, hardworking team Working Conditions This role may involve exposure to common allergens typical in a food company (e.g., peanuts, tree nuts, milk, etc.).
