We are seeking a Training Coordinator to support learning and development initiatives across Nova Scotias forestry sector to serve the industrys employers and strengthen our workforce. The Training Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the workforce in Nova Scotia's forestry sector. This role involves collaborating with internal staff, external training providers, industry stakeholders, and employers to ensure that training initiatives are aligned with industry needs and best practices. The Training Coordinator will focus on delivering training solutions that support the continuous improvement and productivity of the entire forestry supply chain. The Training Coordinator will contribute to a more professionalized and skilled workforce capable of ecologically managing Nova Scotia's forests. This role will ensure that workers and employers are trained to keep pace with innovation, increasing productivity and retention rates and fostering a safe and inclusive work environment. The successful implementation of training programs will increase interest in forestry careers and provide employers with sustainable access to a qualified workforce. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, implement and manage training programs for new and existing forestry sector employees, ensuring alignment with industry needs and emerging innovations. Perform needs assessments to validate or modify training plans and facilitate effective delivery based on findings. Assist employers and training providers in recruiting participants and ensuring strong participation rates and successful outcomes. Support trainees in securing employment and matching them with industry employers for successful job placements. Develop and maintain an industry training resource library, career pathways tool, and provincial open database. Maintain engagement with training providers to ensure programs are relevant, consistent, and effective, fostering continuous improvement and innovation. Monitor, adjust, and measure the impact of training programs, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as participant numbers, course completion rates, learner satisfaction, retention rates, and post-training employment rates. Secure future funding opportunities to continue training support. Qualifications and Experience A college diploma or bachelors degree in human resource management, employment relations, adult education, training and development, or a related field. At least 3 years of relevant training and development experience, including program design, delivery, and evaluation. Valid drivers license. Legally entitled to work in Canada (citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit). Position Requirements Demonstrated experience designing and coordinating training programs, including conducting needs assessments and evaluating results. Proven success communicating effectively with diverse audiences, facilitating groups, and engaging partner organizations. Strong track record of managing multiple projects and logistics such as schedules, vendors, venues, and participants. Ability to collect, analyze, and report on participation, completion, satisfaction, and post-training outcomes to inform improvements. Practical experience working with digital learning platforms, including learning management systems and e-learning or content authoring tools. Commitment to equity, accessibility, and professionalism in all aspects of training program including design, implementation, and evaluation. Additional Assets Knowledge of Nova Scotias forestry sector and broader labour market trends. Background working with Indigenous partners and integrating Indigenous perspectives into programming. Experience facilitating live training in a variety of settings, including classrooms, webinars, and field-based practical learning sessions. Familiarity with identifying and securing funding to support training initiatives. Workplace Considerations This is a full-time temporary hybrid position with an anticipated term of 14 months, from January 2026 to February 2027. Salary for this position begins at $60,000 per year commensurate with experience. The successful candidate must be based in Nova Scotia and will be required to attend in-office meetings in Truro Heights approximately once per week.
