Job Description

Overview Cardiovascular Technologist Fraser Health Authority. Casual role at Royal Columbian Hospital , located in New Westminster, BC . Salary: CAD $36.61 - $45.73 per hour. Responsibilities Prepares patient for procedure by applying electrodes and shave prep if necessary. Gathers patient information/history from patient and Meditech EMR, MUSE and the provincial Cardiac Registry (HeartIS); enters orders in Meditech; prepares information for the patient chart. Sets up, calibrates, monitors and analyzes the patients ECG & hemodynamics during the various procedures; conveys vital information and any changes to the physician. Enters data and prepares reports, with analysis of recorded hemodynamics including ejection fraction, coronary disease, resistances and calculation of valve gradient and area. Sets up, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots a variety of equipment: physiological data monitoring system, ACT machine, FICK machine, defibrillator. Maintains records for Provincial Cardiac registry (HeartIS). Prepares related paperwork for STEMI cases. Assists in pulling supplies for cases; setting up procedural trays using sterile technique; prepping of patients as required. Under the direction of the physician - participates in defibrillating, external pacing and occasional cardioversion and CPR as required. Other related duties as required. Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology. Two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Cardiology Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT) and/or CCI RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) credential.
